Kyrie Irving has been in the news lately saying he wants out of Cleveland and out from under the Lebron James dark cloud of bullshit he puts his teammates and front-office through. I don’t hate the move of requesting a trade. Kyrie doesn’t want to be Lebrons Pippen. Here are some potential spots for Kyrie to land. Let the sweepstakes begin.
- New York Knicks
New York is a very interesting spot. The Knicks are a complete dumpster fire with NO DIRECTION whatsoever. A potential starting lineup as of this moment would be
PG- Frank Ntilikina
SG- Courtney Lee/ Tim Hardaway Jr.
SF- Carmelo Anthony
PF- Kristaps Porzingis
C- Joakim Noah / Willy Hernangomez
Now, i fully expect Melo to be sporting another teams uniform in the upcoming season. Insert Kyrie Irving. Kyrie and Porzingis in the pick and pop game could be deadly. Hardaway is a good player but not 70 million good. With lottery pick Ntilikina still getting his feet wet in the NBA and in my eyes not ready to start, New York would be a perfect spot for Irving to land and finally give New York a sense of direction in which fans could be excited for.
Chance he goes to NY? 70%
- Minnesota Timberwolves
This one i really can’t wrap my head around. The Wolves traded for Jimmy Butler and Jeff Teague this offseason and are really gonna make some noise this year in that loaded Western Conference. Teague is going to be the primary ball handler in the T-Wolves system. With Teague, Wiggins, Butler, Dieng and KAT in the starting lineup, where would Kyrie fit? He doesn’t. The Wolves lacked defense last year which is why they went out of got a point guard who can both be a threat of offense and handle his own on D. Kyrie Irving plays ZERO defense. Kyrie in a Wolves uniform looks great in 2K but in real life, its fantasy land. Not gonna happen.
Chance he goes to MINNESOTA? 5%
- San Antonio Spurs
This is the most intriguing spot. An aging Spurs team with a Superstar in Kwai Leonard and arguably in the best coach in the NBA. San Antonio is a legit contender and has a superstar that isn’t ball hungry and would gladly step aside and let Kyrie have all the spotlight he wants. There is no doubt in my mind this is the best fit for both Kyrie and the Spurs. The only thing that would be tough is getting Kyrie to play a lick of defense. If you don’t play D for Pop, you don’t play for Pop.
Chance he goes to SAN ANTONIO? 70%
This could obviously change any second with the way the NBA is going right now with all the social media presence. Lets see how long this saga continues as we hit the dead of summer with no sports to talk about.
