Three Kyrie Irving Trades That Make Sense To ME…And The World

Okay so everyone is now speculating where Kyrie Irving is going to get traded to ever since his apparent trade request. I personally think a trade is going to get done. The teams he listed as his preferred destinations were the Knicks, Spurs, Timberwolves and the Heat. I don’t think Kyrie is going to have much say in where he goes, So I have come up with a few trade ideas that I think would make sense for both teams involved.

I would like to preface that I ran these trades on the trade machine!

  1. Kyrie to the Miami Heat

Cleveland gets: Hassan Whiteside and Goran Dragic

Miami gets: Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson.

Why I like this trade for Cleveland:  In this trade the Cavs get a downgrade at the point but they get a huge upgrade at the Center position. Goran would be a good fit next to Lebron because he works off ball really well. He wouldn’t need the ball in his hands as much as Kyrie which works better for Lebron. Dragic is a good shooter so he could even play a little bit as the 2 guard while newly acquired Derrick is also on the court.

The biggest plus for the Cavs would be in getting Whiteside. Whiteside is a great rim protector and a fantastic offensive rebounder, which is desperately needed on this Cavs team. In the Playoffs Tristan Thompson struggled to get rebounds which greatly hurt his team. Thompson also has almost no offensive game. Whiteside lives underneath the basket and that helps this Cavs team because guys like Kevin Love, Kyle Korver and even JR Smith and Dragic excel on the perimeter.

Why I like this Trade for Miami: The Heat get a extremely talented and young player that they can build their franchise around. Whiteside is a great player but I don’t think he is someone to build a team around. With Irving, Winslow, Waiters and first round draftee Bam Adebayo the Heat would have a nice young core to build around. With Miami always being a popular free agent destination, Irving could help them draw in some big name free agents in the future.

Final Thought: I love this trade for both sides. I think it benefits both teams greatly, please make it happen. You can thank me later.

2. Kyrie Irving to the Orlando Magic

Magic get: Kyrie Irving

Cleveland get: Aaron Gordon, Nikola Vucevic and future first round pick

Why I like this trade for Cleveland: This may not seem like the ideal trade for Cleveland but it gives them depth and flexibility with the possibly of trading the newly acquired first round pick. Gordon offers depth on the wing and at the power forward and gives Lebron an exciting alley oop partner. Gordon is only 22 years old and would give the Cavs a young talented player that Lebron could help develop, something the Cavs are desperately missing.

Cleveland would also be adding a great lower post scorer and rebounder in Vucevic. Vucevic would offer a nice scoring punch off of the bench, something Thompson does not offer. While he is a liability on defense his versatility on offense would be much needed for this Cavs team.

The Cavs would have a void at point guard after this trade. I don’t know if they plan on using Derrick Rose as the starter but behind him is Deron Williams and thats not very encouraging. Maybe they try to add a veteran point guard to give them more depth with all of Rose’s injury history.

Why I like this Trade for Orlando: THE MAGIC FINALLY HAVE A PLAYER THEY CAN BUILD AROUND. This is kinda the common this with all Kyrie trade rumors, the fact that the team that gets him get their franchise player. Well that idea remains the same here with this deal. The magic have been in no mans land for the past few years, they have a bunch of nice role players and guys that have starter level talent but nobody that is the face on the franchise.

This trade could might not make the magic a playoff contender in the first year because they are still very young and lack major talent. While I like guys like Evan Fourneir and Jonathan Issac and….uhm… well yeah thats kinda all the other major talent they have. With this trade they would likely be moving on from Elfrid Payton in free agency or even look to trade him for anything they can get in return ( maybe a second round pick?).

Final thoughts: The Magic would still be far from a playoff team but would be headed in the right direction and could be poised to make a run at a big name free agent. The Cavs don’t get much better right away from this trade but dealing the first round pick the acquired in the trade could come in real handy to pick up a starter level player around the trade deadline.

3. Kyrie to the SUN!!!!…..well the Pheonix Suns

Phoenix gets: Kyrie Irving and Channing Frye

Cleveland gets: Eric Bledsoe, TJ Warren and Tyson Chandler and 1st round pick top 10 protected.

Why I love this for Cleveland:

Okay where to start here…Cleveland gets depth where they need it and a nice infusion of youth. They can start Bledsoe alongside Lebron, Smith, Love and Thompson with Warren  Chandler and Rose Give them a great scoring punch off the bench with defense from Chandler. I love everything about this for Cleveland, they lose drama queen Kyrie and get guys who are going to help the Cavs compete with the Warriors next time around in the finals.

WHY I LOVE THIS FOR THE SUNS: Okay so they get a core to build with Kyrie, Devin Booker  Josh Jackson and Marquese Chriss, add Dragan Bendar and Tyler Uliss off the bench and thats one of the most exciting young teams in the NBA second to the Sixers! I would be excited to see Kyrie and Devin Booker rival the splash bros with their three point shooting! With two crazy athletic players in Josh Jackson and Chriss they would also have their own version on lob City!!! Imagine that the Splash Bros 2.0 and Lob City 2.0!!! Where do I sign Up?!?!?

Final Thought: MAKE THIS HAPPEN. IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN FOR EVERYONE IN THE BASKETBALL WORLD!!!!
