Recently, MLB teams are inviting the recent NBA and NFL draft picks to the diamond to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. There have been some horrible pitches in history, pitches that don’t even get close to the plate. Ba-Ba Booey from the Howard Stern show threw a ball to home plate that ended up in the vicinity of 3rd base, 50 Cent….not much better, one-hit-wonder Carly Rae Jepson….not even close. But, i don’t expect those celebrities to be able to throw a baseball, i also don’t expect any of them to have an athletic bone in their body.
Now, lets get to the NBA “talent”. These dudes are supposed to be elite athletes, the top 1%. Arguably basketball pro’s are the most athletic people in the world. I am dumbfounded that a ton of these so called “athletes” can’t throw a fucking baseball to a target 40 feet away. The target is about 6 foot by 6 foot, thats a pretty damn big target. Give me a 9 year old who has not thrown a baseball in their life and i could teach him to at least get close in a day.
Some notorious bad first pitches include John Wall, Dirk and Joakim Noah just to name a few. Michael Jordan of all people sailed one 10 foot over the catchers head. Let me remind you that Michael Jordan played in the Minor Leagues in hope of one day playing in the Majors which i think was 100% a publicity stunt and also a cover up for gambling, but thats a different story.
Josh Jackson is the newest member of this group. Picked 4th overall in the 2017 NBA draft. Great athletic wing player who has a bright future if he fixes his shot. Jackson completely blew his first pitch this weekend. It was utterly embarrassing to him and for the Phoenix Suns who picked Jackson because of his athleticism. The Suns can use any good press they can get and this first pitch just sums up the Suns for the past 7 years…embarrassing.
If you are invited to throw out the first pitch at a baseball game, go fucking practice for an hour before, your’e supposed to be this top tier athlete that people envy, going out there and throwing a pitch that looks a pitch Helen Keller would throw is a complete travesty and you should be banned for the park for life. Get your shit together. That is all.
