Week 1, i had some hits, i had some misses. Week 1 is always a wildcard because nobody knows what the expect, i fully expect week 2 to be the same but at least we have something to work off of here. This is going to be short and sweet, i’m not going to go really in depth but here are my plays of the week for each position and some low price punts.
Week 2-
QUARTERBACK
I tend to go cheap with quarterbacks in Fanduel because i believe an average to below average QB is very capable of getting great value on a cheap play.
Case Keenum 6,700– Case Keenum looked like the Case Keenum of last year. With a receiving corps consisting of Demaryius Thomas and Emmanual Sanders, i expect Case to TORCH Oakland this weekend in Mile High. The Raiders are very very thin on defense and i don’t see reason why Keenum couldn’t give you a good 28-33 FDP this week. This is my #1 play at QB this week.
Sam Darnold 6,600– Hey Darnold! Nerves got to him on that first pass last week, but other than that, he played very well and took like a vet out there and rarely made bad decision’s in the passing game. He showed he could sling the deep ball with accuracy and he looked very good throwing on the run. For 6,600 i am perfectly fine paying cheap here with Darnold and paying up for a running back.
Jimmy G. 7,300– Jimmy G. did not look very good in week 1. I have not seen him look like that in the NFL so far, he looked rattled. But i am on the wagon saying that game was a fluke. I expect him to explode in week 2 with low ownership. I do have some concerns with who he is throwing to, because honestly i might be able to make the 49ers receiving platoon. At 7,300 he isn’t very cheap but he will be low owned which is good. I believe he can get it done, but the real question here is do i pay 7,300 for a not so sure thing….hm.
RUNNING BACK
I am paying up for running backs this week. The top RB’s this week have very favorable matchups.
Melvin Gordon 8,200– Melvin Gordon caught a ton of balls out of the backfield last week against KC and looked very good in the running game. Phil Rivers (as a die hard Chargers fan) he loves to use his running backs as receivers a lot, i wouldn’t doubt Gordon catches 8 balls next week and has over 160 all purpose yards.
Alvin Kamara 9,000- James Connor lit up Cleveland last week and i expect Kamara to do the same this week. The game is in the Big Easy and Alvin Kamara is going to have the Browns singing the blues down in the bayou. 100 rushing 100 receiving and 2 TD’s is a total possibility here. PAY UP FOR KAMARA
Todd Gurley 8,900- No brainer here, reigning ROY, he hasn’t slowed down on his sophomore campaign. Arizona’s defense STINKS. I honestly don’t think i need to explain this pick anymore.
WIDE RECEIVER
A lot of options here, since i’m paying up for running backs this week, i’m going to dial it back a bit on Wide Receivers.
Demaryius Thomas 7,000- I am starting Keenum and pairing him with Thomas this week and hopefully the double up points add up this week to get me in the money. Thomas had a bit of an off year last year but he had a few blind idiots throwing to him last year. Keenum is going to get him the ball and when he has a QB, he is an elite receiver. 7,000 is cheap for a player of his caliber. Lock it.
Devin Funchess 6,000- Devin Funchess is the #1 receiver for the Carolina Panthers this year. I was high on him last year and he didn’t live up to the hype i expected him to. This year i believe is going to be a little different. A year older, a year wiser. The passing attack last week wasn’t really existant with the Panthers. This week is a little more of a favorable matchup with Atlanta and ALSO Greg Olsen is out with a fractured foot, so i expect Funchess to be targeted a bunch to try to get this passing game going. Great cheap play.
Deandre Hopkins 8,400- DeSean Watson did not have a good day against the Pats on Sunday. Pats have a good defense and Watson seemed a bit rusty coming off injury that kept him out 3/4 of the year last year. Hopkins did have 8 catches on 11 targets last week, Watson knows who to trust and its Deandre Hopkins. I expect DeSean Watson to completely turn it around this week and return back to last season, and against Tennessee, it is very realistic. Hopkins is poised to have a field day. Lock it.
TIGHT END
I am playing 2 Tight End’s this week. Thats it.
Zach Ertz 6,500- Way to cheap here. WAAAAAAAY to cheap. Big Dick Nick Foles loves throwing to Zach Ertz, thats a known fact. The Eagles did not look too great in week 1, Foles did not either, but you know what, its week 1, everyone is a bit rusty. Week 2 is going to be a different story. Ertz, 7 catches, 120 yards 1 TD is my prediction. Lock it.
Greg Kittle 5,600- Another guy wayyyyy too cheap. Jimmy G’s favorite target is only 5,600, jesus, this must be a typo. Goodwin is out, Kittle had a ton of targets last week and i don’t see anything changing this week against a weak secondary in Detroit. I don’t expect him to be highly owned, but you never know, i just don’t know how you don’t play him at this price.
DEFENSE
San Diego Chargers 4,400- I’m a homer, die hard Chargers fan, but this defense was completely caught off guard from the KC connection of Tyreke Hill and Patty Mahomes last week, it was unstoppable. The Chargers travel to Buffalo Sunday to face maybe the worst team in the league and arguably the worst offense in the league. For 4,400 i’m locking this in.
PUNTS
Travis Benjamin WR 4,800- 5 Targets in week 1 against KC. Benjamin is a deep threat target for the Chargers, he missed about a 50 yard bomb that he was wide open for last Sunday, went right through his hands. If you are looking for a very cheap play at WR that has to potential to go off, its Travis Benjamin, his speed, route running ability and Rivers loves getting his speedy receivers on short dump off route’s and giving them room to run. Great punt play in my eyes.
David Njoku 5,300- Played 90% of snaps last week. I am really not sure why he didn’t get more targets last week. Njoku is a freak of nature and his physical stature should be getting him 8 targets a week for around 70 yards receiving a week and a lot of attention in the redzone. Hopefully Tyrod see’s the potential here next week and try’s to get him the ball.
P.S- Please do not come to my house and murder me for my picks if they don’t work out.
