This blog is going to keep you up with whats going on in the skateboarding world with my take on it and along with 1 throwback video part from back in the day. Hope you enjoy.

This week on HubBlog Hideout….

Corey Duffel, the “Duffman,” came out with a video part he has been working on and promoting called “Homeboy.” It is a classic Duffel part, lots of speed, lots of gaps, you get the classic Duffel style and a few flip tricks in between. Now 34 years old, he isn’t jumping down what he used to but whatever he does, he looks fucking cool doing it. He was one of my favorites growing up, i always bought his clothes and dug the tight pants and kinda sketch style. I loved this part he came out with, it was kind of a blast from the past, thank you Corey for releasing this and taking me back to a time where nothing meant anything and times were easy. If you haven’t heard his interview with “The Nine Club” it is a must listen, one of my favorite episodes from the podcast, he really opened up about everything from his past and how he is trying to overcome it, really interesting stuff, i suggest a listen.

Mid 90’s came out this week. Mid 90’s is a film directed by the great Jonah Hill which reflects what being a skateboarder meant to kids in the “mid 90’s.” This film looks incredible. I always fantasized about making a movie like this, its always been in the back of my mind because i believe that the things i learned from skateboarding were more valuable than anything i was learning in school at the time. There was no racism, the young kids hung out with the old kids, the ghetto kids hung out with the skaters, even the jocks would come down before football games and hang out at the skatepark, it didn’t matter, what we had in common was skateboarding and that was the bond, nothing else mattered. I quit sports to be in a band and to skateboard, and ill tell you what, it’s the best damn decision i ever made, i made some great relationships from that era of my life i wouldn’t give up for anything. I have not seen this film but, i cannot wait to. I have watched a ton of interviews with the cast, THEY FUCKING RIP, these kids are skateboarders being actors, not the other way around like Hollywood has done in the past. Jonah Hill has outdone himself with this one i think.

The throwback video of the week is Cody McEntire‘s part from Digital’s “Smoke And Mirrors” This is one of my favorite parts of all time, Cody has it all, steez, ledges, stairs, tranny, everything you could ask for. I also love the song choice because he is just a kid from a small Texas town and this part really got to me, to this day, it is one of my favorites. His nollie back biggies, and nollie big heels are insane. Enjoy!
